Before you leave, read up on Prague’s history

Prague, and the Czech Republic in general, has a rich history. Do a little bit of research and read about the country’s history before you leave. If you do, you will have a much greater appreciation for what you will see once you are there. You should make a list of all the cool structures and museums you want to see, just so you can make the most of your study abroad trip. (After all, who knows when you’ll get the opportunity to come back?) Keep reading this article for some ideas of what to put on your list! Before you leave, do a little bit of research. It will help you see what you’re getting yourself into, but it will also allow you to have a greater appreciation for the city that will be your home for a couple of months.

See the Charles Bridge

One of the most iconic structures in Prague is the Charles Bridge. Beware that this area is full of tourists, so prepare for crowds. Still, the breathtaking views will be worth the trip. There is not only natural beauty to see, but also beautiful architecture. It’s just as breathtaking at night, too. When you study abroad in Prague, take the time to check out the Charles Bridge!

Visit Prague Castle

Another iconic structure you should see in Prague is the Prague Castle. Its Gothic style architecture is nothing short of amazing. There is also a nice park close to Prague Castle, which is also worth a visit. Make sure to add Prague Castle to your list of places to see when you study abroad!

Go to the top of the Old Town Hall Tower

The Old Town Hall Tower is located in Prague’s Old Town Square, one of the most iconic, historic town squares in Europe. It’s around 600 years old! You should stick around at the top of the hour to watch the square’s clock chime. You can get to the top of the main tower for only a couple US dollars. If you do this, you will see an amazing view of the city of Prague. At least once during your time studying abroad in Prague, you should definitely go to the top of the Old Town Hall Tower in the Old Town Square.

Take public transportation

Public transportation is common in Europe, since it is more convenient (and go more places) than most American public transportation systems. When you study abroad in Prague, you should explore their methods of public transportation. For example, take a ride on a tram or metro (which is akin to New York City’s subway system) to get to the city center. There are many online resources to help you learn more about Prague’s transportation system. Use these resources so you know which routes to take. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the system to help you avoid getting lost or stranded in a strange city. The public transportation in Prague is convenient and cheap, so you should definitely try it out when you study abroad in Prague.

Have a drink

If you are of legal age, you should have a drink when you study abroad in Prague. The Czech Republic is known for its beer, as beer is often cheaper than water. In fact, it has the highest beer consumption rate (per person) in the whole world. Of course, drink responsibly and always keep an eye on your drink. These people know what they’re doing when it comes to beer, so if you are of age, try some when you study abroad.

Get out of the city and explore the surrounding countryside

Yes, the city of Prague is amazing. But the Czech Republic has so much more natural beauty to offer! If you are into nature and the countryside, it might be worth the trip to get out of the central city of Prague and enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding area. You don’t have to go far to find some beautiful views, since it is definitely a gorgeous place with unique landscapes. When you study abroad in Prague, take some time to also explore the surrounding countryside area, as it will give you a chance to de-stress from the bustling city life.

In conclusion, Prague is an amazing place to study abroad. You will appreciate all the architecture, museums, music, and people. It will definitely be a wonderful, life-changing experience. Enjoy your study abroad experience in Prague, and stay safe!
