Gruesome Two-some: Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren
Bernie Sanders has had rumors swirling about who is running mate might be if he wins the primary election and everyone is hinting at U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren. If this were to become true then the gruesome two-some would lead social change that hasn’t been seen since the New Deal by President Franklin Roosevelt.
Bernie Sanders is a U.S. Senator from Vermont. He was elected as an independent, but he is currently running of a Democratic Socialist. A democratic socialist just believes in social justice and change through government public works, similar to FDR. Elizabeth Warren, a senator from Massachusetts, is an elected democrat and has been a special committee leader for President Obama.
This is important for minorities and women because both of these excellent elected officials believe in social reform for equal pay, equal opportunity, and equal representation. “We must pursue policies to transform this country into a nation that affirms the value of its people of color,” said Sanders, “and that starts with addressing the five central types of violence waged against black, brown and indigenous Americans: physical, political, legal, economic and environmental.” This call out for respect and equality is pushed forward by him visiting cities in America and talking to the local people that have been effected by this perpetrated violence and ignorance.
Voting for a president that has social, economic, international, and respectable values would change America for the better. Instead of having large companies and billionaires escape taxes and gain large bailouts to huge corporations and banks, Sanders is against everything those people believe in. He wants them to pay their fair share and to reinstate the disappearing middle class as does Warren. “I want to help rebuild America’s middle class. I want people who work hard and play by the rules to have real opportunities to get ahead. I want us to build a better tomorrow for ourselves and our children,” said Warren
As a voice for the incoming generation for politics and world leaders, Sanders has a view point that merges with our own. We believe in his conviction and his abilities just by looking at the state of Vermont, which has the second lowest unemployment rate in the country. The specific level of persistent and loyal leadership is what this country needs and is what Bernie Sanders and (fingers-crossed) Elizabeth Warren can give us.
